There are several methods for cooking fresh green beans, depending on the recipe you choose. First, chill the green beans in an ice bath. When the green beans are ready, add a tablespoon of butter, the garlic-shallot puree, and eighth cup of sherry wine. Season with salt and pepper. Next, add the green beans to a saucepan. Add the butter and let them cook for about 3 minutes. Finally, add the bacon and let them cook for another 5-7 minutes.
Next, add about half teaspoon of salt and stir to combine. Add enough boiling water to cover the green beans. Leave about an inch of space at the top. Cover the jar tightly and close it. To keep the beans fresh, use a plastic spatula to remove air bubbles. Use a flat lid, and make sure the lid is tight. Do not twist the lid after cooking, because it can break the seal.
Once the green beans are tender, add the remaining butter and seasoning mix. Cook for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Add the garlic and a bit of water if the beans become too dry. After that, cover the skillet and let the green beans simmer for two minutes. At the end, you can drizzle additional seasoning mix on the green beans and serve.
You can freeze leftover green beans. After cooking, you can store them in an airtight freezer bag. If you do not plan to cook them within a day or two, you can freeze them for up to 5 months. However, remember that freezing the beans will reduce their concentration of several nutrients.
