How to Cook New Potatoes

There are several methods to cook new potatoes, but none of them is better than steaming them. To steam potatoes, place them in a pot with boiling water and sprinkle salt and mint over the potatoes. Cook the potatoes over low heat, keeping the water gently boiling. It will take about twenty to twenty-five minutes to cook a small new potato. You can also add a few mint leaves or tuck them in mint leaves to add a little more flavor.

If you have leftovers, don’t worry. You can reheat them the next day. To make a delicious mashed potato, place a slice of new potato on one half of heavy-duty foil. Fold it over and crimp it. Then, place it over a medium-hot grill or barbecue, depending on the size of the potatoes. If you want to make them into a French fry, use a medium heat setting (around 350-450 degrees). Once the potatoes are cooked, drain them and drizzle them with melted butter.

New potatoes are great for frying. Their waxy skins prevent them from falling apart when cooked. In addition, new potatoes colour well when cooked in oil or butter. Because they are so versatile, they are a great addition to stews or casseroles. Try them in a frittata – they taste great when served warm or cold. If you don’t feel like peeling potatoes, try threading them onto a skewer!
